Food SI Recruitment Cancel 2024: The Calcutta High Court has put a temporary stop on the recruitment process for Sub-Inspectors (SIs) in West Bengal’s Food and Supplies Department. The move comes after allegations surfaced that the question paper for the written exam, conducted by the West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) last month, was leaked on social media.
Justice Rajasekhar Mantha, presiding over a single-judge bench, ordered a probe by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into the alleged leak. The CID has been directed to submit a report by May 22nd, 2024.
Candidates who approached the High Court claimed that the question paper was leaked online just an hour before the exam began. They argued that despite this, the exam was allowed to proceed, giving certain candidates an unfair advantage as they were allegedly aware of the questions beforehand.
Following a detailed hearing (Food SI Recruitment Cancel?),
Justice Mantha issued a stay order, effectively pausing the recruitment process until the investigation is complete. This means that the next steps in the recruitment, such as interviews or final selection, will be on hold until the CID submits its report and the court makes a further decision.

This incident highlights the importance of secure exam procedures to ensure a fair and level playing field for all candidates. The CID investigation will determine the extent of the alleged leak and whether any action needs to be taken against those responsible. We can expect further developments in this case once the CID report is submitted.
